It’s springtime in Northern California. The days are becoming longer and it is time to start flying again! All the winter precipitation normally makes all the hills green for a period of time until the overwhelming heat of summer withers everything. At the airport, it means that vegetation must be controlled. Unfortunately, the ones doing the controlling is the San Martin Airport Pilot’s Association. On 4/5, we had a work day to mitigate weeds on the south ramp, some of them as tall as my knees. Why are the tenants, who pay exorbitant rates already, having to do the work to beautify the airport? To put it bluntly, it bullshit. No where else is so much paid in exchange for so little. There were more weeds on the ramp than airplanes.
When writing this post, my daughter asked me “aren’t there people for that?” If even a ten year old understands this concept, why can’t Santa Clara County?
